Until now, we weren't aware that the Champagne we're drinking on a regular basis has some scientifically-proven health benefits. And to that, we say, "Salud"! Take a look:
1. IT'S LOW-CALORIE.
While a glass of red or white wine contains between 135 and 200 calories, a glass of brut (dry) champagne clocks in at only 95. And the low-sugar version, called "low dosage," has a mere 65 calories per glass. Isn't this the best news yo have heard lately?
2. IT PREVENTS DEMENTIA AND MEMORY LOSS.
A study at the University of Reading determined that drinking one to three glasses of champagne each week can boost brain health and protect your brain from diseases like Alzheimer's and dementia.
The study authors observed that the grapes used in Champagne — Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier — have relatively high levels of phenolics, which help modulate signals in the hippocampus and cortex, parts of the brain associated with memory and learning. 3. IT'S GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN.
All those antioxidants we keep talking about? Studies have proven time and time again that Champagne detoxifies, smooths, evens, and plumps your skin – and it’s particularly good for those who suffer from oily skin or people who have to deal with breakouts on a regular basis. We are sure Beyonce knew this!
4. IT'S A HEART-HEALTHY BEVERAGE.
In fact, it's just as good for your heart as red wine. Another University of Reading study concluded that "two glasses of champagne a day may be good for your heart and circulation and could reduce the risks of suffering from cardiovascular disease and stroke."
We always knew that Champagne held a very special place in our hearts – but we didn’t know it was working wonders while it was in there. Amazing, right?
5. IT CAN INCREASE YOUR SEX DRIVE.
It’s well known that alcohol makes people lose their inhibitions. Most alcoholic drinks will give you a momentary buzz but then leave you with little energy and the lack of blood flow you need for arousal. Champagne, on the other hand, allows you to feel its effects much quicker without sapping your energy, this is due to the magnesium, potassium, and zinc it contains.
We must add that we encourage a responsible approach to alcohol consumption. Remember that less is definitely more when it comes to drinking. As Winston Churchill warned: “a single glass of champagne imparts a feeling of exhilaration…. A bottle produces the opposite”.
